It's easy for people to be comfortable with sharing information online. However, sometimes you don't realize just how people can use this information against you or to harm you. I recently heard about a break-in in someone's home as a result of posting their whereabouts online. Their Facebook status mentioned a trip for the weekend. When they returned home from their weekend trip, they found their house was broken into. Incidents like this make me very reluctant to share or open online accounts. -MJ
ReplyDeleteVery interesting article. Security will always be an issue when it comes to information sharing. And, its importance cannot be overemphasized, as technology becomes more sophisticated. I think he made a clear point when he says "Just because someone is friendly online doesn't mean they're friendly offline." ST
